Fintra Feature

Any Metric, Any Dimension, One Builder

Describe the report you want - metrics, dimensions, filters, a comparison - and Fintra returns a chart-ready result from live ledger facts. Pivot it, chart it, save it.

What the report builder does

Most reporting tools give you a fixed set of reports and a wall when you want something else. Fintra’s builder is spec-driven: you choose the metrics, the dimensions to group by, the filters, the chart type, and whether to compare periods - and it computes a chart-ready payload of columns, rows, series, and totals from the live ledger.

  • A spec of metrics, dimensions, filters, chart type, and compare
  • Chart-ready output: columns, rows, series, and totals
  • 2-D pivots (crosstabs) when you group by two dimensions
  • Deterministic - same spec and facts, same report every time

Reports as specs

MetricsRevenue, gross margin, AR balance
DimensionsDepartment, region, customer, month
FiltersThis quarter, one location, a customer segment
Chart typeBar, line, or table

Pivot without a spreadsheet

Scoped and reproducible

  • Role scoping at the data layer keeps reports within permissions
  • Fact sources fail soft, so a missing source yields empty, not an error
  • The pure builder core makes every report reproducible
  • Saved reports read the live ledger, so they stay current

Frequently asked questions

How does the custom report builder work?

You give it a spec - which metrics to show, which dimensions to group by, which filters to apply, the chart type, and whether to compare - and it resolves that against live ledger facts into a chart-ready payload of columns, rows, series, and totals. The core is deterministic, so the same spec always yields the same report.

Can I build a pivot table?

Yes. When you group by two dimensions, the builder produces a 2-D pivot (crosstab) - for example revenue by region and month - computed from the ledger. You get the pivot without maintaining a spreadsheet formula.

Do custom reports stay up to date?

Yes. A saved report is a spec that reads the live ledger, so it recomputes from current facts each time rather than freezing a snapshot. Your saved views reflect the latest transactions automatically.

Are custom reports permission-aware?

Yes. Role scoping is applied at the data source, so a custom report only ever aggregates the facts the current user is allowed to see. The builder itself does not need to know about tenancy - it works on the pre-scoped facts.
